Erythromycin
Product Ingridients:

Therapeutic actions:

Erythromycin belongs to a group of antibiotics called macrolides. Erythromycin works by disturbing the production of proteins by the bacteria. Due to the binding to the 50S subunits of the ribosome, Erythromycin inhibits the activity of the enzyme called peptidetranslocase. As a result, bacteria become incapable to form proteins. This is eventually fatal for the bacteria. Erythromycin acts on gram-positive bacteria including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus spp., Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Corinebacterium diphtheriae. Most of the gram-negative bacteria are not susceptible to Erythromycin.
